About Jordan Wheatley
I was born and raised in Madison, West Virginia, in a working-class family that instilled in me the values of hard work, humility, and compassion. My father was a coal miner. My mother drove a school bus. Growing up in a double-wide trailer, I’ve seen my family make tough choices just to keep things afloat, and I know how hard it is to maintain hope when the odds feel stacked against you.
At 15 years old, I became my grandmother’s caregiver—an experience that shaped the way I see the world: through service, love, and deep respect for the people who often go unseen.
That early commitment to care and service never left me. Today, I live in McKinney and teach 4th grade at a Title I elementary school in Dallas. Before teaching, I worked as a behavior therapist for children with autism, always focused on helping others grow and succeed, especially the most vulnerable members of society.
I don’t come from a political dynasty. I’m not independently wealthy. I’m a teacher who still believes public service means serving the public. A true leader listens first and speaks second, and I’m ready to listen, lead with humility, and fight for everyday people in Texas’ 3rd District.

Why I’m Running
I’m running for Congress because I’m tired of watching everyday Americans get left behind while the wealthy and well-connected rig the system in their favor. For too long, politicians have looked out for themselves instead of the people they’re supposed to serve. I got into this race to change that – to stand up for working families, restore honesty and decency to Washington, and fight for the folks who have been ignored for far too long.
I’ve spent more time in classrooms and living rooms talking with everyday folks than I’ve spent in boardrooms or committee rooms, and that’s exactly the perspective we need in Washington right now. We’ve had enough of politics as usual. When I cast a vote in Congress, you won’t have to wonder who I’m working for: It’ll be you.
What I Stand For
Healthcare:
We need affordable healthcare through a public option that puts people before profits and finally makes private insurers compete. Working families deserve real choices – not sky-high premiums and surprise bills.
Taxes:
Our tax system should reward hard work, not just wealth. It’s time we stopped letting the ultra-rich and giant corporations write the rules while everyday Americans carry the load.
Education:
Our kids deserve better than crumbling schools and overworked teachers. We must fully fund public education and provide the resources students need to succeed, especially those with special needs.
Immigration:
Immigrants help power our economy and strengthen our communities. Let’s build a system that honors their contributions with dignity, fairness, and a clear path to citizenship.
