The Texas Rangers just wrapped up a road trip that—well, let’s just say it won’t be making the 2025 team highlight reel.
After flying high early in the season, they traveled to Chicago. The weather was chilly, and so were the Rangers’ chances. They managed to win just one of three against the White Sox, who are currently more “rebuilding” than “contending.” And yet, it was the Sox who looked like the playoff hopefuls this weekend.
Then Rangers hit turbulence in Seattle, a known house of horrors for the team. As they got flat-out swept by the Mariners. The bats went silent. The bullpen had more leaks than a Washington whistleblower. And the energy? Let’s be kind and call it… missing in action.
Let’s break it down:
Seattle Series
- Game 1: Rangers lose 5-3
- Game 2: A 9–2 thud.
- Game 3: 3–1. Enough said. Pack it up.
Chicago Series
- Game 1: Cubs 7, Rangers 0
- Game 2: Cubs 10, Rangers 6
- Game 3: Rangers 6, Cubs 2
Big Picture
The Rangers suddenly look like a team searching for answers. It’s not panic time yet — not in April — but if Bruce Bochy wasn’t already throwing clipboards in the clubhouse, he might want to start soon.
Of course, he did try a shot in the dark by moving Joc Pederson to the top of the lineup for the last game in Seattle—but that failed to wake up his bat. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and about as much impact as a wet paper towel.
The good news? They’re heading back to Arlington. The home crowd’s loud, the BBQ’s hot, and the hope is still alive. But if this team wants to contend, they’re going to need more than nostalgia and home cooking.
Here’s hoping they packed their offense and a functioning bullpen for the trip back to Arlington
