It’s playoff season in Texas, and for once, the Metroplex gets to double-dip. The Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars are both heading to the postseason — and honestly, we needed the distraction.
Let’s start on the hardwood.
🏀 Mavs Make the Cut — Just Barely
The Dallas Mavericks stumbled, crawled, and somehow limped their way into the Western Conference Play-In Tournament. With a 39–43 record, they’re not exactly title favorites, but hey — you only need one good week to make the first round, right?
The Luka era is over (still weird to say), and Anthony Davis is now patrolling the paint in Dallas blue after a blockbuster midseason trade that sent Dončić to the Lakers. Was it worth it? Ask us after the Play-In game against Sacramento on April 16. Until then, we’ll be cautiously hopeful and emotionally unstable.
If you hear loud groaning from Collin County this week, it’s not allergies — it’s Mavs fans watching their defense.
🏒 Stars Light the Lamp… and the Playoffs
Now over to the ice, where things are considerably less chaotic.
The Dallas Stars have had a legit season — 50 wins, 106 points, and a solid second-place finish in the Central Division. They punched their playoff ticket with a 5–1 beatdown of the Kraken and now face the Colorado Avalanche in Round One.
Sure, they lost six straight to end the regular season, but who’s counting? (Answer: literally everyone.) Still, this team has playoff grit, veteran leadership, and Jake Oettinger in net — and that’s a trio we’ll ride with any day of the week.
Plus, Joe Pavelski is old enough to be some of the rookies’ youth hockey coach, but he’s still out here chasing the Cup like it’s 2010. Respect.
🏆 The North Texas Double Feature
So, yes — Dallas fans are being blessed and stressed at the same time. Two playoff pushes. Two emotional roller coasters. And an unhealthy amount of caffeine and screaming at the TV in our future.
Whether you’re yelling at refs in the AAC or checking the score during youth soccer practice, one thing is clear: North Texas is in the playoff hunt, and it’s going to be wild.
Stay tuned, TX-03. We’ll be here for the buzzer-beaters, overtime winners, heartbreaks, and hangovers — sports, that is.
