Staff Editorial | TX3DNews
When we started TX3DNews, we weren’t looking to start a political war—or launch a crusade. We just wanted answers.
So we did the unthinkable: we built a local news site that watches what our representatives actually do—not just what they post on X or say in carefully crafted town halls and interviews. And we ask real questions. The kind politicians either dodge or pretend they never saw.
Since then, we’ve been called a lot of things: Democrats (we’re not), liberals (nope), anti-Trump (no comment), even some kind of secret media arm for a local congressional campaign.
Newsflash: we’re not.
There’s no campaign pulling the strings. No candidate whispering in our ear. We’re just local residents who got tired of the political BS—and decided to start writing about it.
We don’t endorse candidates. We don’t belong to any party. What we stand for is truth, accountability, and having elected officials who talk to their constituents like adults—not like background props at a Trump rally.
Which brings us, inevitably, to our very own representative, Keith Self—a living, breathing example of why TX3DNews needed to exist in the first place.
Keith ran as a fiscal hawk, a Constitution-waving conservative, and a guy who swore he “came to Congress to fight Washington’s out-of-control spending.”
Fast forward to now, and in true Self fashion, he got on social media to list everything wrong with the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” He said it “does nothing to stop Washington’s out-of-control spending,” warned it would balloon the national debt from $36 trillion to $56 trillion, accused it of advancing socialized medicine, and slammed it for failing to repeal Biden’s “Green New Scam.”
He even said—and we quote—that it was “one of the toughest votes I’ve ever made.”
So… did he stand on principle?
Nope.
He voted YES.
And what about those Medicaid work requirements he’s hyped in every other speech? Oh, they’re in the bill—but they conveniently don’t take effect until after the midterms.
Why?
Let’s not pretend we don’t know the answer.
The self-proclaimed fiscal hawk didn’t stop the bill. He just kicked the can down the road—because in Washington, nothing says “responsible governance” like explaining why something is a disaster… and then helping it pass.
And let’s be clear—if he really wanted to stop it, he could have. The bill passed the House by one vote. One. His could’ve been the deciding no. Instead, he gave it the green light.
You can’t make this stuff up. In literally any other job, if you described a proposal that way, you’d either pull the alarm or walk out. Instead, Self posted a disappointed tweet, shook his fist at the sky—and hoped no one in TX-03 was paying attention.
This wasn’t a vote for conservative values, fiscal responsibility, or the people of TX-03. It was a vote for Trump’s team, Trump’s playbook, Trump’s approval, and MAGA. Full stop.
And that’s the problem—and the reason TX3DNews exists in the first place. Because too many politicians think their job is to parrot outrage, then cave when it’s time to govern. They assume no one back home will notice. They’re counting on us being distracted by hashtags, culture wars, or whatever’s trending on Fox News.
Sorry to break it to you, Congressman—we noticed.
This isn’t about Republican vs. Democrat. It’s about a pattern. Keith Self isn’t the first elected official to campaign like Allen West and vote like John Cornyn on Ambien. He’s just the latest. And TX-03 deserves better than a representative who lobs fiscal grenades on social media, then quietly pulls the lever for the very mess he just warned us about.
We’re not asking for perfect. We’re asking for honesty.
Don’t insult our intelligence by pretending to stand for conservative, fiscal values—and then turning around and voting the other way.
So no—we’re not part of any candidate’s campaign.
We’re part of TX-03’s campaign: for honesty, transparency, and leadership that doesn’t fold like a lawn chair every time Trump picks up the phone.
And if that ruffles some feathers in D.C.—or in a certain congressional office right here in TX-03 (or on their favorite X account)?
We’re fine with that.
We started TX3DNews to make representatives represent—and to make sure voters aren’t left in the dark while the debt keeps climbing and the excuses keep flowing.
