About Mark Newgent
I am running for U.S. Congress in Texas’s 3rd Congressional District (TX-03) in the Republican primary.
I am a retired U.S. Army Captain with 20 years of service, serving as a Military Police officer and rising from private to company commander. During my career, I deployed multiple times, worked in anti-terrorism and security operations, and advised senior leadership on protecting troops and civilians.
After retiring from the Army, I continued my service in the civilian sector, including local government leadership and public service roles. I am a husband and father of two young children, and my life has always centered on service, responsibility, and accountability.
Why I’m Running
Congress is broken. It serves special interests, wastes taxpayer money, and sends billions overseas while American families struggle to afford housing, groceries, healthcare, and education.
I’m running now because working families feel ignored, veterans feel forgotten, and our children are inheriting debt instead of opportunity. I grew up in poverty and understand budgeting the hard way — when the money runs out, you don’t get to borrow endlessly.
Washington has forgotten that basic truth, and I’m running to bring real-world discipline and moral clarity back to Congress.
What I See as the Most Important Issues Facing TX-03 Voters
The top issues I hear from voters across TX-03 are:
- Affordability and cost of living
- Inflation and reckless federal spending
- Border security and public safety
- Support for veterans and working families
- Trust in government and political corruption
People want leadership that prioritizes Texas families first, not foreign governments or DC insiders.
What Are My Top Policy Priorities If Elected?
If elected, my priorities include:
- America First and Texas First spending — ending reckless foreign aid while Americans struggle at home
- Balancing the budget and cutting wasteful spending
- Securing the border and enforcing the rule of law
- Lowering costs for energy, food, and healthcare
- Standing up for veterans with real care, not empty rhetoric
- Defending constitutional freedoms and parental rights
How Would My Approach Differ From the Incumbent?
Unlike the incumbent, I will challenge corruption, question endless spending, and refuse to rubber-stamp foreign aid packages that hurt American families.
My leadership is shaped by military service, lived hardship, and local governance, not career politics. I answer to the people of TX-03, not party leadership, donors, or lobbyists.
How I Plan to Represent a Politically and Ideologically Diverse District
TX-03 is diverse, not just politically, but culturally, economically, and religiously. I believe representation starts with listening, not lecturing.
I will work with anyone, Republican, Independent, or Democrat, who wants to lower costs, restore accountability, and protect families. You don’t have to agree with me on everything to know I’ll fight for you.
Anything Else Voters Should Know
I’m running because service is a responsibility. I’ve led soldiers in difficult conditions, balanced budgets when resources were scarce, and built a life grounded in family and faith.
I believe leadership means putting people before politics and making decisions you’d be willing to explain to your children.
