It was a rollercoaster week for the Texas Rangers — and not the fun kind.
The team limped through a six-game stretch, dropping two of three to the Toronto Blue Jays before salvaging a little pride by taking two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals. But let’s be honest: the real headline isn’t the series results — it’s the absolute disappearance of the Rangers’ offense.
The Bats Have Been Feast or Famine
The numbers tell a strange story. Over the last six games, the Rangers have been shut down completely in two games and scored just 1 run ont the other for 3 low-scoring losses (1-2, 0-2, 0-2) — but exploded offensively in two of their wins (11-1, 8-1), with one scrappy 2-0 victory in between.
On paper, the run totals look decent — but the real problem is consistency. One night, the bats light up the scoreboard; the next, they vanish entirely. For a team that was supposed to be built on steady offensive firepower, that kind of volatility is a major red flag.
Core hitters like Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, and Adolis García have looked out of sync at the plate, often chasing pitches or grounding into double plays at the worst moments. And when you combine that with injuries up and down the lineup, it’s no wonder the team has struggled to string together consistent innings.
Pitching Holds the Line (Barely)
Credit where it’s due: the pitching staff, especially the bullpen, has been quietly doing its part — tossing shutouts against both Toronto and St. Louis and keeping games within reach even when the offense forgets to clock in. But at some point, they’re going to need help — because unless Bruce Bochy suddenly pulls an Ohtani out of the bullpen, these pitchers aren’t picking up a bat anytime soon. Even the sharpest arms can only carry you so far when the bats vanish, and this team can’t expect to win every series on shutouts and miracles.
Looking Ahead
The Rangers will need to reset quickly if they want to stay in the hunt in the AL West. With a tough stretch of games looming, the pressure is mounting on manager Bruce Bochy to figure out how to jumpstart the lineup. Will we see lineup changes? A trade spark? Or just a collective shakeout to snap this cold streak?
Will we see more lineup changes? A desperate trade spark? A clubhouse exorcism to chase out the hitting slump demons? Whatever it takes, the Rangers better find some consistency at the plate — because right now, staying competitive in the AL West feels
