Meet Orlando

Orlando Lopez is a construction industry professional and Democrat running for Texas House District 33 against Republican incumbent Katrina Pierson. The district includes Rockwall County and portions of Collin County.

Born and raised in South Texas, Lopez grew up in a Mexican-American family that emphasized hard work, honesty and personal responsibility. He graduated from Hidalgo High School and earned a Construction Science degree from Texas A&M University.

Lopez has spent more than a decade in construction, managing development projects across North Texas. According to his campaign, he became the youngest project manager at his former company in 2020.

He lives in Heath with his wife, Carolina, a former public school teacher and counselor, and their daughter, Clara.

Why He’s Running

Lopez says he began considering public office in 2025 after watching teachers, parents, students and workers organize around concerns involving public education, healthcare and individual freedoms.

He believes working-class Texans have not received enough attention from state leaders and wants to bring his professional experience to the Legislature.

  • Immigration and Workforce: Recognize immigrants’ contributions to Texas industries, support immigration reform and abolish ICE.
  • Working-Class Families: Address rising housing, healthcare and childcare costs while supporting tax policies aimed at working families.
  • Data Centers: Give local governments greater authority over development and require operators to address infrastructure and environmental impacts.
