Meet Sumbel “Susan” Zeb
Sumbel “Susan” Zeb is running for Princeton City Council Place 6, bringing experience in public service, nonprofit leadership, government and small business to a race focused heavily on how Princeton manages its continued growth.
Zeb has lived in Princeton for about two and a half years after moving from Plano. She was born and raised nearby in Greenville and is now a Princeton homeowner, small business owner, wife and mother.
She currently serves as the elected Place 2 director on the Collin Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. The board adopts the appraisal district’s operating budget, hires the chief appraiser and oversees other administrative responsibilities. It does not set individual property values.
Background
Zeb says she has more than a decade of experience in public service, nonprofit leadership, fundraising and community engagement. Her previous government work includes serving as head of district projects for the late U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Science in Public Administration from the University of North Texas. She is also a graduate of Leadership Plano and New Leaders Council–Dallas.
Her Princeton involvement includes serving on the Home Rule Charter Committee, participating in the Princeton Citizens Academy and volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
Why She’s Running
Zeb says Princeton’s rapid growth requires stronger long-term planning, better administrative practices and greater communication between residents and City Hall.
“I’m not running to hold a title. I’m running to do the work — the planning, the listening, the problem-solving that Princeton families deserve from their City Council.”
Campaign Priorities
Responsible Growth & Infrastructure
Zeb says roads, utilities and other city systems should keep pace with development and that growth should be planned around the needs of residents.
Higher Standards at City Hall
Her campaign calls for stronger administrative practices and for elected officials and city staff to follow professional standards used by well-run North Texas cities.
Accessible City Government
Zeb says better communication, responsiveness and public engagement can help strengthen trust between residents and city government.
The 2026 Race
Zeb is one of two candidates seeking Princeton City Council Place 6 in the Nov. 3 election. She faces Kenneth Seligman.
According to the City of Princeton, Place 6 is currently held by Ben Long, whose term expires in 2026. Princeton council members are elected at large under the city’s current system.
“I represent a growing number of Princetonians — young families purchasing their first home, raising small children, and putting all their dreams and savings into this community. They deserve a voice on City Council.”
